What qualities does a "counterculture" have that are eternal and divorced from its particular historical circumstances?- If we accept that, say, Charles Baudelaire was an authentic 19th century Bohemian, what would he expect from Bohemia a hundred years later? Or two hundred years? Are modern Bohemians more like him, or more like the conventional culture of his time? What use are countercultures, what do they do? And how long can they go on doing it? And what might we do today, that would get us from here to where we imagine ourselves going? And so on, and so on...
