Anne König : Play - Record

Just as looking through the lens of a camera can sharpen your visual perception, listening to the city through headphones and a recorder can fine-tune your sense of hearing. As her contribution to the exhibition 'New Life' in the Gallery for Contemporary Art in Leipzig, Anne König loaned out Dat-recorders and microphones to the gallery visitors, who then had the chance to capture the acoustic character of the city. About 40 of the resulting recordings were then broadcast as 'Radio Flyers' by various radio stations. In the next months, an audioalbum with recordings from 1999/2000, including those resulting from the month of the 'New Life' exhibition, and historical sounds of Leipzig will be published. This double-CD will document the acoustic transformation of the former East german city.
